AGENT ORANGE CLAIMS
Agent Orange was one of the weed-killing chemicals used by the U.S. military in the Vietnam War. The VA pays disability compensation to veterans and their widows/widowers with specific illnesses or diseases that began in, or were aggravated by, their military service in Vietnam from 1962 to 1975. There is no maximum asset or income limitation involved that would preclude any otherwise qualified applicant from being approved for this important benefit.
AID and ATTENDENCE BENEFITS
Veterans who are either permanently or totally disabled, or age 65 and older, may be eligible for monetary support if they have 90 days or more of active military service, at least one of which was during a period of war. The veteran’s discharge must have been under conditions other than dishonorable and the disability must be for reasons other than the veteran’s own willful misconduct.
The funds are used to pay for ongoing unreimbursed medical expenses such as living in an Assisted Living Community, Residential Group Home or for In Home care.
Presently, the maximum monthly benefit is $1,950. This benefit is 100% tax free.
